Isn’t it time for disc golf to enter intercollegiate play? Well the WNC Disc Golf Club (wncdiscgolf.com) has begun one of the first college disc golf leagues in the world. We are currently in our second season with six colleges participating. The University of North Carolina at Asheville won the 2003/2004 season and are currently leading this season with three tournaments played and three to go in the spring. Below you will find some general information about our league. Each tournament has a different format, which we purposely did not post because we are stilling evolving the formats. The formats allow for both elite and causal play to happen at the same time, which has helped maximize numbers and create more fun competition. We generally have 25 to30 students playing in each tournament from four to five different schools. To get involved or for more information on how to get a league started in your area, please contact Ryan Pickens at 828-254-4307 or Josh Jolley at 828-645-0310.
